(Oahu, HI) - USF's Kurt Nino defeated No. 16 Kellen-Floyd Asao 3 & 1 Thursday advancing to the final eight in the 100th playing of the Manoa Cup Championship at the Oahu Country Club. The defending champion in the event, Nino looks to take the next step towards defending his title when he takes on No. 8 Wade Nakamura in one of four quarterfinal matches Friday.

Nino made it to the round of 16 by dispatching No. 32 Corey Kozuma by a score of 3 & 2 to advance to the sweet 16 in the round of 32. Nino then dispatched Asao, the 2003 winner.
