Complete Day One Regional Results in PDF Format
For the first time in USF Track and Field history the Dons had athletes competing in the NCAA West Regional meet this evening at the Matador Track Complex in Northridge, CA. Junior Alex Nelson will be the top seed in tomorrow's 1500m final after winning his heat with a new school record and personal best time of 3:44.76, beating his old personal best by three seconds. Nelson will look to become the first Don in Track and Field history to qualify for Nationals in tomorrow's final. On the women's side senior Jennifer Hartford placed 12th in the 5000m with a time of 17:08.91. Hartford, who came into the race seeded 23rd, will end her Dons career with the school records in the 5000m and 10,000m. "Jen ran a good race, moving up very well throughout the last half of the race," said Head Coach Helen Lehman-Winters. "She has worked extremely hard over the past four years, I am very proud of what she has accomplished throughout her career at USF."
